Fine Motor Skills Intervention

  • Two young children, a boy and a girl, engaging in arts and crafts at a table. The girl is cutting paper with scissors, smiling, while the boy looks at the camera, holding a small object.
  • Young boy with short brown hair playing with colorful plastic links at a table in a brightly decorated classroom.
  • Fine motor skills sessions can help children develop the ability to use their hands for any functional tasks they are finding difficult. This could include cutting, threading, tool use or managing fastenings.

This can stem from difficulties with muscle tone affecting posture, fine motor strength and coordination of the hands and fingers.

In working on both the underlying difficulties and the functional skills children are able to achieve great progress with their fine motor difficulties.

  • Sessions working on the development of fine motor skills can be completed in the home or school setting. A mix of both home and school can also be completed as required.
